Loan Officer

  • On-site
    • San Diego, California, United States
  • $35,000 - $300,000 per year
  • Sales

Job description

Griffin Funding is a consumer direct mortgage company, meaning our Loan Officers work directly with clients who have already expressed interest in financing or refinancing a home.

We invest heavily in marketing and technology to deliver
high-intent first-party inbound opportunities to our sales team. Rather than building a book of business from scratch, Loan Officers focus on responding quickly, consulting effectively, and converting engaged prospects into closed loans.

Loan Officers are backed by a dedicated operations and underwriting team that handles conditions and loan progression, so you’re not stuck chasing paperwork or managing underwriters. This lets you spend your time where it matters most: working with clients and closing deals.

This model allows our Loan Officers to:

  • Spend more time advising clients and less time prospecting

  • Work a consistent pipeline of inbound and outbound opportunities

  • Rely on proven systems and support to drive steady deal flow

  • Build momentum quickly in a structured, lead-supported environment

What You’ll Do

  • Engage with inbound inquiries and outbound leads to connect with prospective clients

  • Follow up diligently with leads via phone, voicemail, text, and email

  • Consult with clients to understand their financial situation, motivations, and loan needs

  • Recommend appropriate loan products and guide clients through the origination process

  • Build trust and long-term relationships through clear communication and follow-through

  • Maintain accurate records and activity within our CRM systems

Compensation

  • Hourly, full-time position (40 hours per week)

  • Paid at applicable state and city minimum wage

  • Hourly compensation is structured as a draw against commissions

  • Draw is calculated per pay period and does not roll over

  • Commissions are paid once earned commissions exceed the hourly draw

Performance & Growth

  • 90-day probationary period with regular check-ins and coaching

  • Ongoing performance reviews to support development and success

  • Clear expectations around standards, consistency, professionalism, and client conversion

Onboarding & Training

  • Structured onboarding during your first month

  • Required completion of Griffin Funding University (GFU), including a final assessment

Leads & Tools

  • Access to company-provided Google SEO and PPC leads

  • Leads are managed through HubSpot

  • Strong internal systems designed to support fast follow-up and conversion

Transition to SR LO

  • Consistent demonstration of exceeding funding standards will warrant a review for promotion to Sr. Loan Officer. Promotion is at the sole discretion of the VP of Lending.

Leads for SR LO

  • Eligible for Past Clients who are not in the book of a Loan Officer who is currently with the company in any capacity.

  • Eligible for Chili Piper appointments and direct transfers from ISAs.

  • When there are separate ring groups; first ring group for inbounds.

  • Expected to demonstrate a high level of understanding of all investors and loan products, and assist the team by leading by example and sharing guidance based on experience.
